Avast Installation for RHEL / CentOS / Fedora

To Install the Avast product on your RHEL/CentOS/Fedora server. You will first need to add the Avast repository to the system repositories. To do this use the following;

echo '[avast]

>name=Avast

>baseurl=http://rpm.avast.com/lin/repo/dists/rhel/release

>enabled=1

>gpgcheck=1' > /etc/yum.repos.d/avast.repo

Next we will need to import the GPG key that will allow you to receive the VPS updates. To do this use rpm as follows;

 rpm -–import http://files.avast.com/files/resellers/linux/avast.gpg

 Once that is complete we will then need to copy the license file to the /etc/avast directory.

 cp /path/to/license.avastlic /etc/avast

NOTE****** Be sure to replace /path/to/license.avastlic with YOUR actual path to the license file on your server.

Once that is completed we are ready to install the avast product and start the avast services.

Yum install avast –y

After the installation is complete issue the service avast start command to start the services.

You may also decide to install other avast services such as the avast FSS and avast proxy. To do this we will use the same as installing avast.

Yum install avast-fss or yum install avast-proxy. In the screenshot below I installed the avast-fss.

Again after the installation you must issue the service avast-fss start command to start the services.

For detailed usage of the avast services you can see the man pages or visit the link below for the complete administrator’s guide.
